Casual means regular. It is what people don't wear at special occasions. The fabrics used are confortable and easy to maintain.

The French prét-a-porter means ready to wear. It defines another aspect of casual garment. As opposed to haute couture which means luxury tailoring, prét-a-porter is affordable and more or less unsophisticated.
